A lawyer for an Archiocese in Brazil said they consider it murder, that a judge granted a NINE YEAR OLD GIRL an abortion because she was raped by her stepfather and her uterus is too small to contain one fetus. She is pregnant with twins. Attempting to carry those babies to term would kill her.
So let me hit the highlights here:
NINE YEARS OLD
RAPE VICTIM
BIOLOGICALLY UNABLE TO SAFELY BEAR TO TERM
What part of HAVING THOSE BABIES WILL KILL HER DO YOU DOUCHEFUCKING ASSBAGS NOT GET?!?!?!?!?!
I don’t often wish harm on other people, seriously, I don’t. But in this case, I hope their penises fall off so they don’t impregnate anyone else with their EPIC LEVELS OF CRUEL STUPIDITY AND SHEER LACK OF HUMANITY!
*I also love how she’s an “alleged rape victim” in the MSNBC article. Sorry, last I checked children couldn’t legally consent, and SHE’S NINE FUCKING YEARS OLD YOU MISOGYNIST ASSHATS!!!!!!!!!
Faith in humanity, falling.
ETA: And I’m assured that this article (which is in Portuguese I believe) http://g1.globo.com/Noticias/Brasil/0,,MUL1028529-5598,00-ARCEBISPO+EXCOMUNGA+MEDICOS+E+PARENTES+DE+MENINA+QUE+FEZ+ABORTO.html states that the Archbishop then excommunicated the parents of the child and the doctor who performed the abortion.
And yet another instance of taking OLD TESTAMENT (as in not valid any more you stupid fucks!) laws out of context and using them for their own misogynistic and sadistic purposes. I’m really pretty sure no “higher being” would actually think that it’s a good idea to force her to try to carry to term.
I love how it’s OK to them for the girl to die trying to carry the babies to term. It also speaks to a serious lack of understanding of biology – it’s not a matter of not being able to deliver them – she can’t carry them to term – she’s 80-freaking-pounds!

Old Testament stuff…
As an aside, Deuteronomy 22:25-27 “But if in the open country a man meets a young woman who is betrothed, and the man seizes her and lies with her, then only the man who lay with her shall die. But you shall do nothing to the woman; she has committed no offense punishable by death. For this case is like that of a man attacking and murdering his neighbor, because he met her in the open country and though the betrothed woman cried for help there was no one to rescue her.”
I’m just sayin’…

Good. People need to realize what kind of assholes the church encourages.
God is not pro-life.

Interesting read…
Though I think that they take a lot of those references out of context. The concept of pro-life/pro-choice is a human construct…but with those O.T. references the point is that life is to give and take at Gods’ will, not ours.

What gets me is that, most of the time, if the life of the woman (or child in this case) is in danger, the fetus dies with her. So one way or another that baby ain’t happening. I love how it’s a pro ‘life’ position to say not only does the fetus get to die anyway, but the woman has to die with it. Pro ‘life,’ huh? I do not think this word means what they think it means.

So according to Jewish law, which is old testament law, or at the very least based upon it. You not only can perform an abortion to save the life of the mother. You *_MUST_* perform said abortion to save the life of the mother.

The cases when abortion is required to save the woman’s (here girl’s) life rarely make the news. In fact, I can’t remember one that did. They are usually to private and painful to inspire publicity. The church’s absolutely irredeemable position in this case will at least force some anti-choice/anti-woman activists to confront how pro-life their position isn’t. Right? I dearly hope someone corners one of those bastards with a question about this case. Please.
