Get bent.
No, really.
You’re upset because the US media did something that is Standard Operating Procedure, and showed Dominique Strauss-Kahn being led out in handcuffs. So, in retaliation…
You released the name of his accuser.
How very sporting of you. I can see how you’d want to level the playing field here. I mean, he’s just a millionaire who heads the IMF and has homes in both the US and France, and she’s…
A maid.
This guy has a history of “difficult relations” with women. I’m not saying he did or didn’t do it. As of right now, he’s still an alleged rapist. But the fact that the media, many in the US and almost everyone in France, immediately leaps to, “IT’S CONSPIRACY!!!! LYING WHORE!” makes me sick to my stomach.
Once again, I can reiterate that less than 8% of rape allegations are unfounded according to the US DOJ, and that’s “unfounded” not false. They put the rate for false reports at closer to 2-3%. I can reiterate that going through a rape trial is nearly as horrible and violating as the rape, sometimes moreso. And I can also point out the incredibly small number of successful rape prosecutions, and contrary to popular belief, just being accused of this crime does not ruin a man’s life. Not if he’s as rich as this guy.
So, French Media, and that smarmy lawyer dude on CNN who made his own snide comments, get bent.
A couple of days ago they called this overblown turd a “ladies man.” After mentioning a European woman was accusing him. A “ladies man” is what they said when she called him “a rapist.”

Well said!
Lets also remember that no country is really obligated to treat foreigners by their rules. He’s on our turf now, and he is subject to our handling of matters. Humph!

I just, the mind boggles at the idea that a picture of the guy in handcuffs is just as bad as raping someone? Is that really what they’re saying?
Actually, what they’re SAYING is that she’s a lying whore and part of a conspiracy.

The French can be pretty misogynistic. I don’t think that’s an excuse. At all. But in their society it’s a compliment for a woman to be sexually harassed. And so many other things. There’s a feminist dissident group class La Barbe over there that I really want to support any way I can (sadly I can not read French and that’s what their site is in http://www.labarbelabarbe.org/La_Barbe/Accueil.html )
But I would love to do something to help this woman. I would hate to see something happen to her (even just hate mail) because the French media decided to do this.
